Eman Mohammed, IUG student in the Department of Journalism and Media, who works as a photographer at Demotix agency, after her media coverage to the latest war on the Gaza Strip.
The awards were founded by the Next Century Foundation which announced the winners in a conference that focused on documenting new media in the Middle East.
Mohammad is currently working for the Demotix news agency, which nominated her for the award on the basis for her excellence in photographic and journalistic correspondence, particularly a series entitled The War on Gaza and the Aftermath.
Mohammad, who is a senior in media studies at Islamic University of Gaza, expressed joy for winning her first award in the field, and dedicated it to “the Palestinian heroes of the war” whom her camera had captured.
Mr. Muhsen Al-Efranji, Vice Director of Journalism and Media Department at IUG, confirmed that the IUG student winning in such prize proves the university professionalism and qualified students, especially after having different prizes given to IUG students in different fields of study.
