Donated by World Bank and European Union, Projects and Research Center at the Faculty of Engineering at IUG, organized the Third Technology Engineering Meeting.
The Technology Engineering Meeting was held at the central conferences hall of Islamic University of Gaza and key local and regional personalities attended the conference.
The Meeting continued its activities from 19-20 May, 2009 to have 40 creative projects prepared by IUG students and others from local institutions.
The following titles are some of the students’ creativities among the 40 projects that are presented in the technology meeting.
Eye Controlled Typing
Amany Abu Ryalah , Diana Kuhail , Safa Al Najar , and Feda Murgan – communication and controls Engineering Students_ participated in a project entitled ” Eye controlled Typing”. The purpose of this project was to create a device to facilitate computer use for physically disabled people.
The basis for this design is the electric potentials generated by the human eye. After this potential is sensed by electrodes, the signals are amplified, filtered, shifted, and sent into the PIC. The PIC converts the analog signal to digital while interpreting the voltage levels before sending them into computer through RS232. Once inside the computer, through Visual basic, keys from a keyboard can be selected by looking different directions based on programming.
Measuring the Efficiency of Lug Academic Departments Using Data Envelopment Analysis Approach
“Measuring the Efficiency of Lug Academic Departments Using Data Envelopment Analysis Approach” is a project presented by Ebrahim Kuhail, Ahmed Khanem, Mahmoud Salim , and Nader Abdul Nabi – Industrial Engineering Students . this thesis applies data envelopment analysis (DEA) to assess the relative echnical efficiency of the academic departments at the Islamic University of Gaza (IUG). The aggregate efficiency indicates whether the resources have been utilized efficiently by a department and the efficiency score helps identify the weak areas where more efforts should be devoted to increase efficiency.
Electronic Book Reader
This project was presented by Mahmoud Alhabash, Muhanad Ali, Ahmed Farajallah , and Tarek Tabet – computer Engineering Students. Electronic book reader “EBR” device will give the ability to read, page, and explore any printable document in a simple way. This device will display file listings of EBR files and folders and allow for a quick and easy method of reading and exploring them anytime and anywhere. No PC is required, just copy your favorite books to the device and read them anywhere anytime with no effort.
PC Remote Access
The project is in the distributed computing field, the application is two parts server and client. The client connects to the server and then can access the client access the other PC remotely. The application built on Java use RMI package. This project was presented by Akmal Aldahdouh , Mutaz Murataja, and Muhammed Abu hasera – computer Engineering Students.
Cartoon Program
Eman Abu Sel and Isra’ Sakany – communication and control Engineering students – participate in a project about Cartoon program used to solve the waste water. The idea of the film revolved around a documentary educational three- dimensional cartoon explaining how to make a problem solving model for waste water treatment with a technical plot where the hero in the story is a robot. The program focuses on tenth grade students and environment and earth science students.
