Dr. Ahmed Bahar, Deputy Chairman of Palestinian Legislative Council on Tuesday said the council will provide proper facilities to the persons with special needs, for their participation in national mainstream.
Students Affairs Deanery, at IUG, prepared an exhibition, in cooperation with 30 institutions which participated in the activities of the exhibition.
Dr. Ahmed Bahar, Dr. Kamalain Shaath, IUG president, Dr. Ismael Ridwan, Students Affairs Dean, Mr. Rafeq Mikki, Chairman of Gaza Municipality, hundreds of people and tens of local and regional institutions, attended the IUG activities of international day of disabled persons.
Dr. Bahar said around 2.5 percent of the Palestinian population lives with disabilities and needs special attention and as a result of the occupation, the percentage became 4.5%.
Dr. Shaath said the University provided opportunities to the disabled people in all fields to help them accomplish their dreams to live a comfortable life by establishing a center for them at the university.
Dr. Shaath calls upon the need for concerted efforts by individuals as well as non governmental organizations to rehabilitate the disabled.
