IUG Gets Acceptance to Start Bachelor of Midwifery Next Semester

IUG has got the acceptance from Higher Education Ministry to start a bachelor program in Midwifery Legal at the Faculty of Nurse at the first semester of the academic year of 2008-2009.

Dr. Ashraf Al-Jidi, Faculty of Nurse Dean, confirmed that what is distinctive in this program is that it will be established in a conservative community.
Midwifery is a health care profession where providers are experts in womens reproductive health. Dr. Al-Jidi, noted that female specialists team will give prenatal care to expecting mothers, attend the birth of the infant, and provide postpartum care to the mother and her infant.
The program is aiming at giving students the necessary skills and information to offer medical care for mothers and their infants, supporting mothers health at the period of pregnancy and giving birth, and proving students with suitable experience to have their role of guidance.
The program will include 147 credited hours distributed into four years including 300 training hours.
