Twenty Institutions Participated in Architectural Heritage Conference at IUG

Islamic University of Gaza started the activities of the international conference titled “the Reality and Challenges for Preservation”, which was organized by Center for Architectural Heritage and Architecture Department at Engineering Faculty supported by UNESCO. Twenty institutions participated and 25 scientific researches are introduced in the conference.

The conference brings together scholars, government officials and policy makers, business developers, tourism officials, involved organizations and interested individuals to exchange ideas and to begin creating a framework for more coordinated preservation efforts, and also to encourage a comprehensive approach to the management of the architectural heritage.

There are two scientific sessions in the conference, including: researches related to Al-Quds; scientific researches related to the management of Architectural Heritage.

Dr. Ahmed Abu Halabia talked about the dangers that face Al-Aqsa mosque and how to overcome them.

Dr. Muhammed Al-Kahloot, faculty member at Engineering Faculty, introduced a brief talk about his research titled “the Planning policies and its impact on Architectural Heritage in Al-Quds city” referring to the necessity of conserving Al-Quds in the Palestinian society.

Some other important issues are discussed in the conference related to local historical buildings and mitigating the financial, social and legitimacy obstacles.
