Business Studies and Research Unit at IUG, organized a workshop entitled “Siege Impact on Financial Liquidity in the Gaza Strip” discussing the causes of the crisis, the role of banks in finding adequate and appropriate solutions to them.
Dr. Salim Helles, Dean of the Faculty of Commerce, and Mr Jamal Saleh – Chairman of the Economic Committee of the Palestinian Legislative Council, Dr. Khalil Al Namrouti, Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Commerce and Chairman of the Organizing Committee, and Dr. Mohamed Megdad, Chairman of the Scientific Committee, and a group of experts and scholars in economic affairs, and students from the Faculty of Commerce, attended the workshop.
Dr. Helles noted that the absence of Shekel in the Palestinian Banks leads to a lack of money in these banks warning that the continuation of the blockade would lead to the closure of some private banks.
In the workshop, the committee members and participants have discussed possible alternatives for solving the problem of financial liquidity in the Gaza Strip.
