Journalism Dept Strikes for kidnapping BBC Reporter Mr.Johnston
Journalism dept at IUG participated in a sit-in strike which the Journalists Protection Committee at Palestinian Journalists Syndicate called for. The sit-in strike took place on the Palestinian Legislative Council Square; IUG staff condemned ongoing detention of BBC journalist reporter Mr. Alan Johnston.
Dr Ameen Wafi, Journalism Dept President at IUG, said that Mr. Alan Johnston conveyed the message of the Palestinian people and the oppressed people all over the world through his efforts in covering the events and news in Palestine. Dr Wafi added that the Palestinian people stay beside their friends, and called the journalists to work hard in order to sit Mr. Alan Free.
Mr. Mohsen El-Efranjy, Instructor at Journalism Dept at IUG, said the kidnapping of Mr. Alan is a serious sign toward kidnapping journalists who are defending the Palestinian Issue. Mr. El-Efranjy called on the Palestinian Government, President, and Prime Minister to do their best to facilitate the release of BBC Reporter Mr Alan Johnston.
