The MEPI Student Leaders Institute is a fully-funded six-week intensive leadership training program in the U.S. for undergraduate students. The program is from June 25 – August 7, 2014. All programs will share two key components: a five-week academic residency at the host institution and a one-week study tour designed to complement and reinforce the concepts explored in the academic residency. The Institute consists of hands-on leadership training workshops, academic sessions, site visits, community service projects, optional home stays and other opportunities for interaction with Americans peers.
You can apply if you:
þ Are a Palestinian citizen, living and attending school in the West Bank, Jerusalem or Gaza.
þ Are not carrying an American passport or an American green card.
þ Are a current university students, 18 to 24 years old.
þ Are proficient in English.
þ Are mature, responsible, independent, open-minded, tolerant, and thoughtful.
þ Are committed to returning to your home country/community following completion of the program;
þ Demonstrate strong leadership potential;
þ Have a sustained high level of academic achievement;
þ Have no prior travel experience in the United States and limited to no study or travel experience outside your home country;
þ Are willing and able to participate fully in intensive academic, community service, and educational travel activities;
þ Are comfortable with campus life, sharing living accommodations while traveling with a multinational group of participants from the Middle East and North Africa region and with U.S. citizens, and making adjustments to cultural and social practices different from those of their home countries/communities; and
þ Are comfortable spending Ramadan and Eidin the United States.
þ Are not a former U.S. Government grantee.
