Course Title

Using Art of Resistance in English language teaching

Objective

The course aims at involving pre-service teachers in workshops on exploring the use of cartoons, comics, drama and films for language teaching. All the activities will be relevant and embedded in the Gaza Strip context: the course will refer to English for Palestine; and will deal with authentic material relevant for ELT in Gaza Strip.

Trainer

Miss Maria Grazia Imperiale, a PhD student at the University of Glasgow in collaboration with Dr Nazmi Al-Masri as part of a project entitled “Researching Multilingually at the Borders of Language, the Body, Law and the State”

Course duration

intensive 5-days course for a total of 20 contact hours: 4 hours a day – 11-16^th April 2015

Target applicants

– only 4^th level students at IUG English Department

– only graduates of IUG English Department who graduated over the last 3 years.

– accumulative average is 80% and above

– to be committed to 4-hour training for 5 days and dedicate an additional 8 hours for compiling their learning journals and to prepare a brief written assignment on the evaluation of the course.

Certificate

All committed participants will be given a “certificate of participation” signed by both the Islamic University of Gaza and University of Glasgow, UK.
