Privacy Statement
1. Introduction
The Islamic University of Gaza, represented by the Information Services &
Technology – (IST) Department, respects the privacy of all the visitors to
the university’s websites. This includes the users who simply surf the
sites, or those who chose to contact us requesting any information and
clarifications, or those who chose to fill in any of the different forms on
the websites. This statement explains the data that are acquired from the
users by the different methods and the using for these data.
2. Data Acquired
from the Visitors IST doesn’t collect
any identifying information about the users unless they voluntarily send
their identifying data to us using any means available. These include the
input forms, emails, telephone calls, etc… such identifying data is used to
responding to users answering their inquiries.IST may store these
information to better understand their needs and/or redirect them to contact
other representatives within the university. IST will not redistribute these
contact data to any external entities for marketing and advertising
purposes. The information will be kept confidential and the privacy will be
preserved by all available means.
3. Data Acquired
Automatically Some data are collected
automatically when visiting any website, whether the university’s site or
any other. Such data is collected by the hosting system of the website. IST
may collect these data for statistical purposes including but not limited
to: users’ directions in visiting the sites, the mostly used web browsers,
the mostly visited websites. This is to enable IST to better develop the
website to suite most users in order to provide a better user experience.
These data include but not limited to: ·
Users Operating Systems ·
Users Web Browsers · The
pages that have directed the user to the current page, including keywords
used in search engines. ·
Number of visited pages ·
Time of each visit
4. Usage of Cookies
& Sessions When using the university’s
website, it might be required to store certain files on the users’[machines.
These include the use of Cookies, which are simple text files used to store
some user-specific parameters regarding their browsing in the website, and
Sessions. IST will only use these to customize the content in certain
services based on the users and to enhance their browsing experience. IST
will not use them to personally identify users. It is also interesting to
mention that Cookies can be blocked by the user’s web browser or even delete
once the current session is over.
5. Usage
Responsibilities Despite that IST
ensures the continued support and maintenance of all the technical problems
with the website, IST will not be held responsible for any problems the user
might face when using the university’s websites. Users are also fully
responsible for any acts of sabotage that may disrupt the website, violate
the other users’ privacy, or destroy the data on the site partially of
completely. IST is also preserving its right to record all the sabotage
attempts and also preserving its right to complain before court of law. in
such cases, the user will be responsible for all the costs that result due
to the sabotage attempts. Using the
Islamic University of Gaza websites means your explicit acceptance to all
the terms mentioned in this privacy statement. The University will not
consider any allegations regarding the lack of knowledge about this
statement. Remark:
