AQAC Accredits New Programme in Journalism & Media at IUG

The IUG Faculty of Arts will be starting with a programme in Radio and Television Technology next semester.

A programme in Radio and Television has been recently accredited by the Accreditation and Quality Assurance Commission (AQAC) at the Palestinian Ministry of Higher Education as to be open soon in 2019-2020 academic semester in the faculty of Arts.

The Dean of the faculty of Arts Prof. Raed Salha declared in an interview that "this discipline is the first of its kind in Palestine as to be open this 2019-2020 academic year".

He stated that the applicant must have a high school diploma, or a bachelor degree from one of the Palestinian universities in the major of journalism and media. The applicant could apply also if having a good working experience in the field of journalism and the media.

This program is of highly benefit as Prof. Salha pointed out: the programme aims to keeping abreast of developments in the field of radio and television, as well as, developing the intellectual capabilities of the students. This programme has an apparent trend to supplement the media community with a plenty number of specialists who can make the use of press, digital media, radio and television meanwhile.

Graduates will work in the media community institutions to document their activities by videos and filming in addition to promote the products vis different social media platforms. A graduate may work in schools and universities and various public relations institutions located in the Ministries and universities.

The Faculty of Arts is keen to foster the practical part through equipping the IUG Media Center with most-updated technology: distinguished educational studio, control room, as well as equipment needed for the media work. The IUG Media Center is filled with specialties in preparing and presenting programmes, editing, photography, sound engineering and film making.
