Professional Diploma in Energy Efficient Buildings Accredited Now at IUG

The brand-new diploma course is the first of its kind in Palestine and will be of considerable benefits to build the capacity of local staff in Gaza.

As part of CBEEB project activities, a cooperation between IUG and TU Vienna; the first professional diploma course in Energy Efficient Buildings has been recently accredited by the Accreditation and Quality Assurance Commission (AQAC) at the Palestinian Ministry of Higher Education. This diploma will be offered by the IUG Community and Continuing Education Center and taught under the supervision of the IUG Architectural Engineering Department.

The one-year diploma targets, in particular, the graduates and practicing architects in addition to engineers who are working in the local organizations which specialized at building design and construction in the Gaza Strip. Those people will be trained on producing and promoting for more energy efficient buildings, taking into consideration the local influencing factors.

The theoretical part of the course covers base information about the subject, while the practical part will concentrate on using computer simulation programs, site visits and lab-based training.

The importance of this course lays on strengthening the capacity of local organizations and making the approach of energy efficient buildings more achievable, in addition to creating more job opportunities associated with energy efficient buildings for Gazan people.
