Academician Wins Award for Scientific Research

Prof. Omar Asfour, Department of Architecture, won the first place of Excellence Award in the field of scientific publishing bestowed by the Palestinian Islamic Bank at its third session. The idea was launched by Palestine Polytechnic University in the city of Hebron at all Palestinian universities' level. The Award aimed at developing the scientific research horizons since it reflects the evolution of universities among the world universities.

Prof. Asfour participated with a research, entitled: "The Role of land planning policies in supporting affordable housing in the Gaza Strip". The research addressed a number of international mechanisms and recommendations that can be applied in the Gaza Strip to enhance housing facilitation by lowering the cost of lands and providing funding for limited housing income.

Competition on the scientific research awards varied to include all Palestinian universities, and the number of participants has reached (25) in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip.
