English Department Holds IUG Annual Show 2017

18 - Apr - 2017

The English department at IUG held The Annual Cultural show 2017, which is a yearly activity  that highlights students’ talents and creativity. The show was opened with verses from the holy Quran followed by the Palestinian anthem. Head of the department, Prof. Ayman AlHalaq, thanked the sponsors of the show, the coordinators, and the participant students for their efforts.

The variety of the activities presented kept the audience enthusiastic till the very end of the show. These included: singing, acting, painting, and performing  poetry and Dabkah. Students’ songs and poems were patriotic and empowering. The plays and sketches diverged from the comedies that mocked social issues to tragedies that pinpointed national and international causes. Both the Syrian and the Palestinian crises were strongly spotlighted in the students’ activities. In addition, authentically Palestinian songs were translated into English; Dabkah was performed on the rhymes of “ Ya Zareef Al Tool”.  Live glitter glue performance was a perfect closing of this ultimately astonishing show!

The Islamic University of Gaza believes in the power of youth.  The future depends on the minds of today’s generation, thus supporting and encouraging our innovative students is a must. This activity is part of many  other creativity-supporting activities held annually at IUG.
