Top IUG Research Publishers In 2019 Global Databases

The IUG Deanship of Scientific Research and Graduate Studies announced the top research publishers in the global databases Scopus and Web of Science during the year of 2019.

Interviewing Prof. Bassam El-Saqqa, Dean of Scientific Research and Graduate Studies; he indicated that the Islamic University is keen to encourage university researchers to publish their research output within well-known reliable global databases. The reason is to make IUG researches more visible to the world than before, and therefore, has remarkably resulted in the university's increased production of research that published in indexed journals in many global databases, most important of which are Scopus and Web of Science. The significance of databases lies in raising up the universities' classification and reputation, Prof. Saqqa added.


Prof. Al-Saqqa also pointed out that what distinguishes the list of researchers for 2019 is the topn-notch quality of researches of the university’s staff, in addition to a participation of a number of first-time researchers in the list the Deanship of Scientific Research and Graduate Studies has been launching for several years. The current list is also marked by the presence of female researchers from the university and their distinction in international publishing.

In the Scopus database, Prof. Bassam Tayeh from the Faculty of Engineering leads the list with over 21 research studies in a year, while Prof. Hala Al-Khozondar from the Faculty of Engineering and Prof. Sufyan Tayeh from the Faculty of Science, came second and third place, respectively.

From the Faculty of Medicine, Prof. Bettina Boucher came in fourth place, followed by Prof. Mohamed Shabat from the Faculty of Science and Prof. Adnan Inshasi in the fifth rank. Also, Prof. Ammar Abu Hadrous from the Faculty of Engineering and Prof. Sami Shaath from the Faculty of Science ranked sixth in the list.

In the Web of Science (WoS) database, Dr. Bettina Bucher from the Faculty of Medicine topped the list as the most prolific researcher at the Islamic University in the Wob database for 2019. Prof. Bassam Tayeh ranked second, while Prof. Hala Al-Khozondar from the Faculty of Engineering and Professor Prof. Sufyan Tayeh from the Faculty of Science ranked third. Prof. Khamis El-Essi from the Faculty of Medicine came forth, while Prof. Mohamed Shabat ranked fifth in the list.
