IUG Participates In 1st International Conference Of AUG Applied Medical Sciences

Following strategies of partnership, the Faculty of Health Sciences has recently participated in the first Internation Conference of Applied Medical Sciences at Al- Azhar University, which was in 18/19.Nov.2017. The participation varied to include moderating scientific sessions and presenting a bunch of scientific papers. Prof. Abdul Rauf Manama, from Laboratory Medicine, presented a paper entitled of "Carbapenem resistance among clinical and environmental Gram-negative isolates recovered from hospitals in Gaza Strip, Palestine" as well as moderated the second scientific session at the second day of the conference. Prof. Mazen Zaharna, from Laboratory Medicine, participated with a research, entitled " Taxifolin synergizes Andrographolide-induced cell death by attenuation of autophagy and augmentation of caspase-dependent and independent cell death in HeLa cells".

Optometry Department, Prof. Khaled Awad presented a research, entitled "Comparison of dry eye parameters between diabetic retinopathy patients and control subjects in Gaza Strip, Palestine". Where Prof. Amr Abu Amra presented a research entitled of "Corneal Topography Patterns and Higher Order Aberrations in Female Students of the Islamic University-Gaza". While from the Physiotherapy department, Prof. Mohammed Kreizem presented a research entitled "Activity limitation among community integration among adults with spinal cord injuries Gaza strip". In the third session, which was moderated by Prof. Sami Oemer, there was a chance for alumni and Master holders to participate with scientific papers. The MA student Rinad Abu Dan approved her existence with a paper, entitled "Evaluation of Biofils Formation of Pseudomonas aeruginosa Isolated from Various Departments of AL-Shifa Hospital and Susceptibility to Acetic Acid". Whereas, MA student Hadeel Boraai presented the paper (Cytotoxic and Antiproliferative Effects of Four Natural Plants Extracts on Colon Cancer Caco-2 Cell Line). The graduate Madeline Shamali participated with a poster entitled "Carbapenems Resistance Gram negative Bacteria Isolated from Poultry Samples in Gaza Strip". Finally, the graduate Afnan Yazouri rated top of best posters, her poster entitled "Isolation of bacteriophages Targeting Multidrug-Resistant Bacteria".
