Gaza City is one of the oldest cities in history, the city that were rooted in the three thousand years BC, which has undergone a number of civilizations, it is Alkanaani to the Byzantine era to the Christian, and then to the Islamic conquest, through the Crusades and the subsequent era of the Mamluk and Ottoman rule all periods affected its culture and heritage.

Many historical buildings in Gaza City have suffered from some damages, as a result of previous wars, especially because of the latest war waged on Gaza by the Israeli occupation forces.

This war has adversely impacted many of the historic buildings and sites, which may lead to its disintegration, especially with the concentration of most of these buildings in the old city, and its critical situation because of previous multi-wars and disasters.

Recently, some of these buildings encountered direct blow and large parts of the building have been demolished, in addition to other buildings affected indirectly as a result of targeting nearby locations. some damages which historical buildings have suffered are listed below:

• Destruction of large parts of the building, and some constructional effects on the rest of the building, especially in buildings which have been targeted directly.
• Collapse of parts of buildings, as a result of the strong vibrations, that were created after targeting nearby locations. This has also significantly affected the constructional situation of the buildings.
• Appearance of some cracks in the buildings, and widening of the existing ones, constitutes a serious threat on the building's survival.
• The shaking of stones and the fall of some of them out of the walls of several buildings.
